Localized shear strength mobilization at geosynthetic interfaces caused by spreading soil upslope

چکیده
Localized interface shear strength failures have occurred during placement and spreading of cover soils on top geosynthetic layers slopes using construction equipment, typically bulldozers (‘dozers’). The mechanisms these types are rarely considered evaluated in design reports calculations. present paper intends to improve upon the analyses presented previous literature references by providing straightforward equations static equilibrium that user can easily input into a spreadsheet model various dozer sizes, geometries, strengths. analyzes forces below soil pile being pushed, as well tracks, which has not been previously available literature. provided should be useful for engineers avoid slippage where dozers materials over geosynthetics, or forensic experts who evaluate why may occurred.

Shear Strength of Soil
One of the most important and the most controversial engineering properties of soil is its shear strength or ability to resist sliding along internal surfaces within a mass. The stability of a cut, the slope of an earth dam, the foundations of structures, the natural slopes of hillsides and other structures built on soil depend upon the shearing resistance offered by the soil along the probable...
متن کاملFriction and Shear Strength at the Nanowire–Substrate Interfaces
The friction and shear strength of nanowire (NW)-substrate interfaces critically influences the electrical/mechanical performance and life time of NW-based nanodevices. Yet, very few reports on this subject are available in the literature because of the experimental challenges involved and, more specifically no studies have been reported to investigate the configuration of individual NW tip in ...
متن کاملDisplacement Fields Influence Analysis Caused by Dislocation Networks at a Three Layer System Interfaces on the Surface Topology
This work consists in a numerically evaluation of elastic fields distribution, caused by intrinsic dislocation networks placed at a nanometric trilayers interfaces, in order to estimate their influence on the surface topology during heterostructure operation. The organization of nanostructures is ensured by the knowledge of different elastic fields caused by buried dislocation networks and calc...
متن کاملInsects Overshoot the Expected Upslope Shift Caused by Climate Warming
Along elevational gradients, climate warming may lead to an upslope shift of the lower and upper range margin of organisms. A recent meta-analysis concluded that these shifts are species specific and considerably differ among taxonomic lineages. We used the opportunity to compare upper range margins of five lineages (plants, beetles, flies, hymenoptera, and birds) between 1902-1904 and 2006-200...
متن کاملInfluence of 10-MDP Adhesive System on Shear Bond Strength of Zirconia-Composite Interfaces
Introduction: This in-vitro study investigated the initial 24h bond strength between different composites and zirconia after application of four different adhesive systems. Methods: A total of 120 specimens of zirconia (InCoris, Sirona, Germany, Bernsheim) were ground with a 165 µm grit rotating diamond disc. Thirty specimens were each additionally treated with Cimara Zircon “CZ” (VOCO GmbH, ...
